Frequently Asked Questions
When will submissions open and close?
Submissions open Saturday, July 28, 2018. They close on Friday, November 9, 2018. Please review all dates and fees in our Submission Guidelines.
When and where will the festival take place?
The LA Dance Film Festival will take place on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the historic Los Feliz 3 Theater in Los Angeles. It is a one evening program comprised of short films, socializing and networking.
What kind of films will you accept?
During our submission period, we accept dance films under 30 minutes. More information in our submission guidelines, including our definition of a dance film: http://ladancefilmfest.org/terms/
How many films will you accept?
As many as we possibly can. We created the festival to provide additional opportunities to dance filmmakers and we aim to include as many films as possible. This is why we've chosen to only solicit short films.
However, in the past two years, we've screened approximately 14 films. As we say in our submission guidelines, the shorter the film, the easier it is to program it.
We have a diverse jury panel selecting the films for this year's festival. Learn more about them here.
Who's behind the festival?
The LA Dance Film Festival is produced by Betsy Uhler and Lex Roman. We are generously supported by our Advisory Board, our Programming Team and our Jury members who donate their time and expertise. The LADFF is a completely independent, self-funded festival.
